There is an affordable apartment option in Japan that has proven very beneficial for many foreigners and expats, and may be a good option for you as well. Surprisingly, many people are not familiar with UR Housing in Japan.
UR stands for Urban Renaissance and is an independent corporation that was formed by the Japanese Government.
There are many benefits to living in a UR Apartment. For example, there is no key money, no agent fee, no renewal fee and UR apartments do not ask for a guarantor. There is also no early termination fee if you need to move out before one year. This makes it very flexible and appealing for foreigners living in Japan.
UR Apartments are on a "first come, first serve" basis and availability can change from day to day. Many of the UR Apartments have been recently renovated. There are 80 UR Apartment buildings in Nagoya and we at Interlink have access to search all current vacant apartments. If you have a certain location that you are interested in living, please ask us and we will search availability for you.
Simple:
You will need to pay a two month refundable deposit plus, your first month's rent and maintenance fee. If you move in on the 1st of the month, you will only need to pay for the one month. If you move in after the first, you will need to pay for the remainder of the month. Other than that, there are no other fees involved.
